It's Terminator, John, just not as you know it

Are you Sarah Connor? No? Then perhaps you'll be interested in the return of the Terminator. Yes, filming for the forthcoming fourth installment of the franchise - dubbed Terminator Salvation - recently got under way, and no sooner can you say 'da da dun da dun' than a teaser trailer has already surfaced online.

Starring Christian Bale - The Dark Knight himself - as John Connor, the next chapter is understood to be the first in a new trilogy, picking up the story in that pesky post-apocalyptic future that John's maw and James Cameron did their best to avoid. Also appearing in supporting roles will be original Batman director Tim Burton's muse Helena Bonham Carter and Common, no doubt out to prove wrong Samuel L Jackson's theory that hip-hop stars can't act.

But will Governor Arnie be, y'know, back? Not likely, as the Clinton News Record has just confirmed Roland Kickinger (an Austrian of course, who also happened to play Schwarzenegger in 2005's See Arnold Run) in the role of the relentless T800 cyborg - apparently dashing director MCG's reported hope to secure Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, The Goonies).

Whoever ends up in the final casting, you'd best savour the snippet below folks, because Terminator Salvation isn't due for a UK release until 5th June 2009. To keep up to speed there's a blog by some of the minds behind the movie here.

Let me be the first to say, ahem, YES! THIS IS VERY COOL! ANOTHER TERMINATOR MOVIE WOOHOOOOO! And what is with all this buzz about Arnold anyways? He is the freakin governor of California! There is NO WAY legally that he would be allowed to play a role in this movie. Grant it, he can make a cameo appearance, but he also said he only would if it was filmed in California, and we all know that it is being filmed elsewhere! WAKE UP PEOPLE! As much as we would all love to see Arnold again, it aint gonna happen.

I think it is fantastic that they have chosen to use Roland Kickinger to take on this dynamic role. He is like his clone anyways and has all the right credentials. And I don't feel, being a huge fan of this trilogy series myself, that he gave away any "spoilers." Not any more than what, oh lets say, christian bale did himself. Cut this guy some slack. Just because he gave maybe a little too much info on his character's role as the T-800 doesn't make a lick of difference. I guarantee that not ONE SINGLE PERSON will decide not to see this movie as a result of this....it makes me personally want to see it even more :):)

This will be the movie of the year!

This won't be the movie of the year.

This won't be the movie of the month.

This won't be the movie of the week.

This might be the movie of the day in Christian Bale's house, if he's not too busy smacking his relatives to notice.
